Infrastructure

Spread over 4000 sqft, NIS is equipped with all safety measures to provide children plenty of room for free movement. An open play area spread with green mats, a wide sand pit, slide, etc., welcomes the child and brightens their mood. Each classroom is equipped with educational aids which generate creativity and the myriad activities are carefully selected to be age appropriate and stimulating. Montessori materials and methods are integrated. Based on the idea of learning through the senses, these materials ignite the mind. Interactive white board activities are further incorporated as needed. Together, the NIS infrastructure for the little child is beautifully arranged to provide a rich, carefree, warm and inviting environment for every child.

Early Childhood Education

The NIS environment abounds with possibilities for the young mind. A huge range of pedagogical learning materials are arranged for children to pick and work on their own. Children work independently, in groups and together as a class. Circle time involves singing songs, playing percussion instruments, acknowledging each other, show and tell, and kinesthetic exercises. Learning environment and field trips address their senses and their multiple intelligences. Many music and art forms are explored together to nurture creativity, develop curiosity, stimulate their senses and inspire their little souls.

Class Room

Spacious classrooms and free play and activity zones are designed such that every student gets the teacher's maximum individual attention while enabling the teacher to conduct group learning sessions. In addition to the regular class rooms there are a number of other rooms like the Student resource center, Audio-Visual room, Art and Craft rooms to facilitate better learning.Class rooms are ergonomically designed and comfortable furniture adds to the learning environment.

Faculty

"Effective teaching provides students with the skills to create and follow their personal road map through life", so we take a lot of care in selecting and entrusting the responsibilities of the kid to the teachers. Teachers at NIS are highly qualified. They are duly trained by GCPL experts either at school or out of state. They are also sent to attend national and international seminars and training sessions on Montessori hands on practices; class room put ups, conducting assembly, classroom handling and analysis of child's psychology. This extensive training from school encourages the teachers to put on their thinking caps to devise lot of innovative & child friendly methods to make the teacher- student relationship & teaching learning process sound & interesting.

Library

The main resource Centre for the students and the faculty at NIS will be the state-of-the-art Library.

The vast collection will mainly comprise textbooks, reference books, fiction titles, periodicals and audio-visual material like CDs and VCDs. Separate areas will house the collection of syllabus-based textbooks (according to classes), fiction titles (primary and secondary) as also periodicals and audio visual materials. In addition, a vast collection of titles including Encyclopedias, dictionaries; atlases, thesaurus, etc. will be available to the students and the teachers for their day-to-day teaching and assignment work. The Library will house a teacher resource section too for preparing the study material and worksheets.

English Language Lab

The Language lab will encourage the children to hone their Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (LSRW) skills. It will also serve as a reading corner and students will be encouraged to develop the habit of reading. The language laboratory will be used to practise extempore speaking, strengthen communicative English skills, develop confidence, body language and personality.

The Science Laboratory

An ultra-modern Science Lab at NIS, Whitefield Bengaluru, will be designed to spark creativity and interest in the basic sciences. The Science lab will also provide an open environment for students to experiment and do research work. Under the professional guidance and assistance of the science teachers, students will be encouraged to exhibit their creative skills. The main lab will also have a special area 'Junior Science Lab' where students of the middle school will get a hands-on experience.

Computer Lab

Computer Aided teaching sessions will hold a special place at NIS, Whitefield Bengaluru, which will give our students the winning edge in a competitive world. Students will have the pleasure of learning various topics with the help of computers. A research-oriented approach will be encouraged and frequent analysis of projects will help students to orient themselves with the rapidly changing requirements of the world outside.

The Math Lab

A well-equipped Math Lab at NIS, Whitefield Bengaluru will provide students with the opportunity to have fun with numbers. It will create a challenging atmosphere for students to put their mathematical abilities to test and enhance their analytical reasoning and lateral thinking through various games and activities. We instill and develop the observation skills in students to derive formulae. In the Math Lab, games will be organized, models will be made, quizzes will be conducted and projects will be exhibited. Thus, the complete learning process will be done through practical means. Experiments will be performed based on the concepts dealt in the syllabus. Various kits will be designed and used to derive the formulae.

Health Checkup

NIS organizes health check up camp annually where every student of NIS undergoes health check-up once in a year by the doctors of reputed hospitals. The checks include eye, dental, ENT, pediatric and general. Computerised records of the medical history of each child is maintained by the school.

The Art & Craft Programme

Creativity is an inborn quality in children. Taking this point into account, the art and craft programme at NIS, Whitefield Bengaluru is quite elaborate and interesting. Art & Craft is interwoven in the subjects like EVS and the students are needed to maintain a separate portfolio of it. Every concept in the tier book is followed by Art & Craft activities on the relevant topics which makes the class fun filled and interesting. Besides the set curriculum, NIS Whitefield Bengaluru also has adequate arrangements for optional art & class projects and classes where the students are trained in the art of painting and guided to be experts in craftsmanship and theme put ups. Teachers guide and encourage them to explore and exhibit their hidden talent and artistic potential from the budding stages to develop as blooming artists. Art Education in the pre-primary classes begins with learning and identifying different colours. The foundation course at the Primary school level is based on encouraging the students to explore drawing skills, understand the theory of colours and colouring concepts and get acquainted with the usage of various colouring materials, while practicing the art of blending colours.

Optional Classes

The school provides a wide range of choices to the students to follow their passion in dance, guitar, painting, karate and drama. Students attend these classes in different options on Saturdays.
