The school academic year started off with an awareness walk on 7th June in commemoration with World Environment day on the theme ‘Air Pollution’. Our students from class 5 to class 9 went for a walkathon and created awareness among the general public with the help of placards, role plays & slogans. Students of class 3 & class 4 celebrated the day by planting saplings in the school campus to increase the green coverage.

On 21st June, we celebrated International Yoga day stressing the importance of yoga in day to day life.

On 6th July, 2019, we conducted student council election. Students from class 2 to class 9 took part in the voting process to select their leaders of the school council. We believe that exercises like these will be fun and will have a lasting impression on students’ minds.

On 13th July , we had Investiture ceremony for the elected members. Chief guest of the Event, Mr Dinesh Gupta addressed the gathering. Newly appointed Student Council members were adorned with the sashes and the house flags and they underwent the swearing-in ceremony.

On 19th July, our Pre-primary kids had gone on a field trip to Satyanarayana Nursery and Railway station.

On 3rd August, We had a History Exhibition on Harappan & Mohenjadaro civilization by class 6 students. Am proud to say that NIS provides such a conducive environment for our young children to explore.

The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal & enthusiasm. The day started off with flag hoisting by the chief guest of the event Mr. Venkatesh. To mark the occasion, we had some stage performances by our students and also had inter house patriotic song competitions.

On 20th August, students from class 6 to class 8 had gone on a field trip to Halmidi & Belur as part of their social studies curriculum.

From Authority to Authenticity, a healthy & effective classroom climate is the one where students feel safe to make mistakes & sees them as opportunities to learn. In order to hone up essential critical thinking skills, we conducted a Debate competition for higher primary children on 24th August, 2019.

On 26th August, Krishna Janmashtami celebrations were held for pre-primary kids. It was feast to the eyes to see our children dressed in ethnic wear as Krishna, Radha & Gopikas.

On 26th August, students from class 5 to class 9 were taken to Srilekha theatre to watch a movie’ Mission Mangalyan’ – an inspiring tale of India’s first Mars mission Mangalyan which was launched in the year 2013.

On 31st August, as part of Scouts & Guides, ‘Cooking without fire’ was organized to test the culinary skills of our students.

On 5th September, teacher’s day was celebrated in a grand manner. Students had shown their meticulous planning and organizing ability in conducting the event in the most memorable way.

On 14th September, our school teachers had conducted home visits with an intension of creating a greater bonding with our children and also to understand the children’s background. This novel initiative had been received with a lot of appreciation from our parents.

In my experience, no profession can be as dynamic as teaching and no board room can come even close to the decision making that goes in a classroom.

On 21st September, we had Hindi Diwas celebrations and to commemorate Hindi Diwas, our school Hindi department had organized for various competitions.

On 21st September, we had fancy dress competitions for our pre-primary tiny tots. Students came dressed based on diverse themes and captivated their judges with their costumes & dialogue delivery.

.As we all know that communication plays a vital role in professional and personal life so good listening, speaking, reading and writing skills are essential. Keeping this in mind our students were encouraged to take part in Show and Tell ,Pick and Speak ,Rhymes Recitation ,Story weaving, Just a minute etc. On the same day.

On 2nd October, in commemoration with 150 years of Gandhi we had celebrated Gandhi Jayanti at Vasavi Anandadhama . Chief guest Mr.Venkatesh addressed the gathering stating the importance of the day. Skit competitions on Champaran movement Jallianwala bagh massacre, Quit India movement and Dandi March were conducted. A photo exhibition was also organised as a part of the celebrations.

Most learning is not the result of instruction, it is rather the result of unhampered participation in a meaningful setting. Going with the philosophy, on 5th October we had Monologue competition for class 1 to 9 and Intra school final quiz competitions were also conducted for the houses. Ruby house had emerged as the winner.

On 1st November ,Nurture International School participated in Kannada Rajyotsava day Tableau procession on the theme 'Namma Chikkamagaluru'. We bagged the coveted third prize among 23 schools, government department and colleges .We also participated in culturals organized as part of celebrations at Kuvempu Kala Mandira. Our school dance was widely appreciated for its theme, costume /choreography.

On 2nd November, we had in-house School celebrations for Kannada Rajyotsava day. Our Kannada Department could host a variety of competition such as fancy dress /poetry recitation/ essay competition and so on to go with the importance of the day.

On 14th November, we had children's Day celebrations. All teachers participated and entertained our students with their surprise performances with the fusion songs, puppet show, dance and so on . Lot of games were conducted class wise, kids enjoyed to the core. Teachers served the students with cakes and cut fruits.

On 30th November, the student from class 3 to class 9 were taken for a one day trip to GRS fantasy Park , children had a gala time over there.

On 7th November we had our annual sports meet. We had a formal function with Mr Venkatesh, our chairman as our chief guest. The event started off with march past by the school leaders and house captains and followed by lighting of the torch and sports flame. Mr Sudhir, our Secretary had declared the sports meet open.

On 12th December, our pre primary and 1st standard kids were taken on a field trip to Tree Park , Belur & Halebidu respectively.

On 18th December, we had sports day for pre- primary kids .We were indeed overwhelmed by the zeal and fervent participation by our kids.

On 26th December the school department of science had organised for a live watching of Annular solar eclipse with all the precautionary measures. Children were made to understand about the celestial phenomena in detail .The children felt mesmerized by the unfolding of the spectacular celestial drama happening right in front of their eyes.

On 4th January, we had Christmas & New year celebrations in a magnificent & impressive manner. The children participated with full vigour with lovely carol songs, skit on the birth of Baby Jesus, shepherd dance to name a few. It was a very impressive performance by our children bringing home the spirit of Christmas to the folks.
